Pleasure

For some the pursuit of pleasure

Is the purpose of their life.

Others must have meaning

Their hopes to realise.

Pleasures can be fleeting

Pleasures do not last.

Pleasures can not satisfy

They disappear too fast.

Set your cap for happiness

And sometimes you will fail.

Search instead for meaning;

For that’s a wiser trail.

  1. This is beautifully stated, and the second poem I have run across so far tonight to hit on one of the simple truths of life relating to desire… It seems the community is awake tonight. I am so glad to see that.
