The sea went out. I missed the tide.

I’m stranded, abandoned, left on shore.

My dreams, ambitions all denied.

The sea went out I missed the tide

Like flotsam, jetsam cast aside;

My hopes are dashed, I’m feeling sore.

The sea went out. I missed the tide.

Stranded, abandoned, left on shore.

The tide goes out but will come in

The waves will touch my feet again.

I’ll feel their splash against my skin.

The tide goes out but will come in.

Chances return though odds seem slim.

I’ll be prepared; be ready then.

The tide goes out but will come in.

The waves will touch my feet again.

The Next Big Thing

Still working on the next big thing….progress is slow.

The Next Big Thing

I’m sat here in a coffee shop
Like a J.K Rowling thing.
My book’s going to be the
Next big hit
But I’m not quite certain when.

You’ll be taken by my hero
Quite an amazing chap.
Or he could be a girl
I’m not quite sure
I’ve not cracked that bit yet.

It’s bound to make me millions
All I need’s a plot
Half an idea what to write about
Then it’s certain to take off.

I’ve not quite got it started
I don’t know where to begin
But if I ever write this book of mine.
It’s gonna be the next big thing.

Diffident and quite reserved

pexels-photo-448834.jpeg

Diffident and quite reserved

He was loath to join in

And would rather observe.

He’d keep his distance

Quitely watch

He didn’t care for others much.

Meal times he would eat alone.

And, as for company

Preffered his own.

Yet there’s little doubt

He didn’t miss much.

We didn’t know him

But he knew us.

He’d stand to one side

And just observe.

What lay behind

That quiet reserve?

Asian Elvis

807CD4B2-3943-43FD-A57A-1FD09CDADEFE

Come and see our Asian Elvis

Rockin Indian restaurant.

A rocking, rolling Elvis

Version of the Vegas one.

Hotter than the hottest jalfrezi

Cooler than a poppadom

Rocking, rolling Elvis

Grooving in the Indian restaurant.

Said he’d been away some

Come back sporting a tan.

Spitting image of Elvis

Hip strutting Asian man.

Rock right out of Chenai

Shout out for Mumbai

Sounding just like Elvis

Rocking right out of LA

Jumping across two cultures

Smiles all round the room

Good vibes round the restaurant

Grooving to a common tune.

Abrupt

You’re curt, abrupt, so very rude

Why must we put up with you?

Brusque, abrupt and so off hand

What are we supposed to do?

The simplest statement sets you off

As if you think we’ve challenged you.

Snap, bite off the speaker’s head

What the hell is up with you?

You’re on your own, I’m out of here

No point putting up with you

Treatment cavalier and rough

I won’t take any more from you.

Something up your sleeve

pexels-photo-547593.jpeg

When some of the magic’s missing

No rabbit’s come out the hat

It helps if you’ve something

Hidden up your sleeve.

Some will roll their sleeves up

And just get down to work

But proper magic only comes

From something up your sleeve.

You might perform a card trick

Get by with sleight of hand

But the only way to ensure success

Is something up your sleeve.

Jack in the Green

F5E562CA-D6AB-4CF4-847B-36BD051C68C7

Jack, Jack, Jack in the Green

Fetch him out to lead the dance

Was a finer sight ere seen?

Dancing, dancing all in green

See Jack twist and turn and prance

Jack, Jack, Jack in Green.

Jack, Jack where you been?

Is it summer come perchance?

Was finer sight ere seen?

Summer’s come and we can dance

Winter’s gone at last.

Jack, Jack, Jack in Green

Was finer sight ere seen?

May Day

One day four possible meanings.

Dancing, garlands,  ribbons, pole

Workers, marches, labour, proles

Election, speeches, Theresa, poll

May Day, May Day urgent call.
